Elder Scrolls Online?

Post by AJ.Wisteria on Sat May 05, 2012 11:20 pm

So, as some of you may (or may not) know, Bethesday is releasing "Elder Scrolls Online", an MMORPG based in the wonderful world of Nirn.

Now this isn't just going to be in one country, it's EVERYWHERE. So we're going to be able to travel all over the known world, exploring places we haven't seen since TES I: Arena. You know, like Elsweyr, Hammerfell, Blackmarsh, etc.

Unfortunately, rumor has it that this is going to have the basic MMORPG-type controls (something Bashur of the Bashurverse is VERY upset about), and I wanted to see what you guys think. Are you hyped?! Or are you just kinda... "meh"?

Love Elder Scrolls, but I doubt I'll get it.

I don't get the crying about basic MMORPG controls, because honestly there's not really any difference between any MMORPG's controls. Besides, they're simple and easy to understand. Not sure why you'd want to make it harder on yourself to play the game you want. /endrant

ANYWAY, I'm not really hyped. An Elders Scrolls is not something I wanted, I would much rather have a Fallout MMO/MP game. In fact, I'm rather depressed because it seems unlikely they would have opposing MMOs...

That and Faelar got me a bit into WoW.

meh

*was about to go "wtf, why didn't i get that cover?"* *then realized it will be for june*

meh, seems interesting, it is certainly an interesting idea, but i am not sure if it will catch on (with so manny MMORPG games out there like rift and WoW) unless it is in first person, THAT would be cool for a game like this.

I've heard about it. I thought Bethesda announced they wouldn't be making an Elder Scrolls MMO but eh, what can you do?

I'm not really that hyped for it. There are way too many MMOs as it currently stands. And with something with a world that big, and knowing Bethesda, the game will be initially laggy and buggy. It could (And probably will) take months to get it stable.

So it's going to be The Elder Scrolls... With the mainstream MMORPG stuff? Key-smashing and auto-attack? Hell, I'd rather finish Skyrim.

*Edit* Also, do note that Bethesda is not making this game. Bethesda is working on Dishonored. If I remember correctly, Zenimax is making TESO.

Yeah, if Bethesda's not working on it, it won't be much fun...it's just not Bethesda!

On a side note, Dishonored looks F***ING AMAZING!

If it's not Bethesda then I won't play it. It'll probably turn out like FO:NV did.

ZeniMax Online Studios(who's working on TESO) is apart of ZeniMax Media, who owns Bethesda Softworks(who's publishing it).

Blaze and I had an argument about ZeniMax and Bethesda, but in layman's terms; It's the online TES crew who is working on it.

I won't say it's the game you know and love, because it'll be a MMO.

New Vegas was likely ZeniMax/Bethesda giving Obsidian Entertainment a test run with the engine Bethesda Game Studios made for Fallout 3, because they're likely handing the Fallout franchise to them. Reason being is Obsidian made the original Fallout games, at least, before when they were Black Isle Studios under Interplay.

I was scared at first that this might be a disaster, but the more I learn about it is seems to be getting better and better. Unfortunately a lot of the key aspects of Oblivion and Skyrim will be lost, but it looks like many others will be maintained. I am going to try it at least, it could be fun.

:O Fucking Awesome. I'm hyped-ish. Reasonably, anyway. I longed for TES Multiplayer since Oblivion, I was wondering about a mod for it in my Oblivion days. Although come to think of it, it might turn out utter crap but Bethesda games tend to be good, so it shouldn't dissapoint.
