Abandon my house

Post by TheLegacy on Tue Oct 25, 2011 9:03 pm

As you guys may or may not know that my country is facing a worst flood in 16 years, well it got worse and turn to the worst flood in 50 years! The flood this time cause by the government didn't release the water in the dams because they didn't care how many tropical storms will hit those area in this time of the years. So they release the water from the dam when they're full and do it at the same times (About 3 major one and 5 small one) So the whole country start flooding. The north start to flood about a month ago and they're recovering now. The water have been sweeping the country for a month moving from the North to the south. It also already took out 5 industrial area. My house is not too far away from Bangkok (about 2km) and the flood has reached the my province about 2 weeks ago. So my family start to fortify our house.

But well, the bad thing happen. My house got consumed by the flood and now there are water in my house flowing over a wall of sandbag over the fence filled my fish pool (RIP 15+ fishie that my dad bought them 18 years ago D:) then went into my house by leaking up from the tiny crack in the floor and the wall. And through the windows and doors even though we've sealed up with plastic sheet and tons of duck tape. So we left the house before the dawn of the 22nd (about 3am my mom panicked :/ )

Though our housekeeper told us that she'll stay and watch over the house for us, so we didnt take ours two dogs with us. But unfortunately the of the village broken down on the 24th and the water from the outside rushed in plus 1 of the 3 huge water pump of the village broken down plus the big canal 1km north the to village overflow and water level rise some more. She left that day bring ours two dog with her. They're golden retriever btw so it's freakin hard to walk through a flowing water for about 500 meters until a boat pick'em up and drop them down at the air force base nearby.

We stay at my grandparents place that is in Bangkok for 3 days until the government said that the wall that hold the water off the capital got destroy by the water and those water will reach my grandparents place soon. So we move again to my Aunt house which is located at southern Bangkok.

I'm typing this on my new laptop that I bought this morning and watching the news of the city getting flooded.

PS. Those 5 industrial area combine produce 25% of the world HDD. So expect the price of them to be higher or some parts maybe delayed from their arrival date or out of stock soon.

Pics coming soon <3

DAMN! NOW I DON'T HAVE ENOUGH FOR THAT HDD I WANTED!

I mean, DAMN! NOT MORE FLOODING!

When I moved up to the North of England in 2007, we had some serious flooding up there. Luckily, it didn't come in the house, although others were not so lucky. Gardens and streets were flooded, thousands of tons of crops were killed, people lost their homes and their livelihood, and there were even some deaths. Obviously, I died.

But that flooding compared to yours? GOOD LORD! I can't say I know your pain. But I understand it. By God that sucks.

All I can say is, really, I hope things improve soon, very soon. We're all here if you need us!

gosh that sucks! I live in a flood plane, so every few years the waters get high. few years ago (two years in a row) it almost got to our house, and flooded the hole town. (thankfully my mom is careful about living on a hill.. and checking stuff out to make sure we wouldn't buy a house that floods...) but ya... I've done my share of sandbagging... but we've never had anything THAT bad O.O good luck with everything. I'm sorry about your house :(

Post by TheLegacy on Thu Oct 27, 2011 8:14 pm

Today at 5:00am my grandparents fled there's house because the water from the highway'd reached their's house. They moved to my another aunt's house. Another sad news is the other main rivers in central Thailand has overflowed this morning and tomorrow is the day that the sea water level will reach the highest point of 2.6m above normal sea level and I don't know if the steel reinforced concrete wall around the river can hold it or not.

I'm now in Pattaya working for my robot competition in Abu Dhabi in the mid of this month. Our team can't go to school to work on it because 1)Many members of our team house got flooded so they cannnot come and 2)Our school is only 700 meters away from the Chao Phraya river(The river that cut across the capital) so we need to flee to Pattaya to practice it D:

Will update if something more happens
For now I'll go play some Blackjack
