Do you like the idea of Cutting and Pasting our Active towns onto a 1.8 Map?

That is true, if we are going to make a city, better have it be built with all the lessons learned from Cerberus, added onto by having a council in place that could manage things fairly well. I am glad this is causing people to think of all the possibilities!

Actually, I see a lot more problems with that, mostly in that, rather than lifting the already-defined areas that contain the towns, we/Scope would be picking and choosing terrain features from a new map to put in place in the old environment, accomplishing the exact same end of keeping our towns with the added cost of most likely only having those changes be in area we've already explored. It's all of the problems of both ideas.

Wheeind wrote:You would like our creations thrown together instead of being properly placed on the map? Not being hostile, I just want anyone who considers this a possibility to think over the fact that there is distance between things on our map now for a reason.

That's assuming that everything would just be thrown together instead of put down with utmost care and editing away any oddities and imperfections that would be left behind from the drop, and considering that Scope is our volunteer for this possible process, I don't see that kind of laziness happening.

In addition, we all seem to be assuming that it'd be impossible to copy over the stretches between towns, too. It seems to make a lot more sense to copy over as much of the established area as we wish to copy since we'd be copying it over anyway and let the rest of the map hold the new features, mixing together everything that we want from both sides- the familiar sights and all of the new things. This way, the only stuff that's new and strange is the area that would be new and strange anyway.

The general assumption seems to be that the distance and sights are absolutely impossible to copy/irreplaceable. That's just incorrect, really.

If we're getting a new map we're getting a new map. Having our old map pasted into a new map would be OK but that's the only way I'm willing to support this and I'm pretty sure having a massive square pasted into a new world is impossible.
