You're welcome towns...

Post by Sealand on Mon Jan 21, 2013 2:15 am

So, for months now there has been an unfinished road between the server's two and only towns of Hearthfire and New Cerberus.

Well, not anymore.

With the help of Faelar and Mazer, the road has been finished and the two towns are now connected. So congratulations towns, you don't have to lift a pinky finger. Hope you're happy! In less than an hour we did what has been held off for months.

So again, hats off to Faelar and Mazer for helping. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

I'll be setting up a large bedding station sort of thing for travelers, and perhaps a few smaller outposts along the way for safety during the night.

Cool. Thanks guys.

And in my defense I did have an excuse, my problem started happening a couple of weeks after we started that project. :P

Did you guys fix the route so it isn't slanted and awkward for 2 minutes of the walk or did you just go with the way Scope set it up? That's what initially held me back from completing it, I was in the process of trying to figure out the most direct way to go while avoiding deserts/snow/jungles.

That slanted part is still there, we continued off of it. It also nicks the desert and goes through the snow biome... but there's no way to avoid it really unless you want to go about 1000 blocks from the actual way.

If you want to fix it feel free as long as there's a standing road while the other part is being made. >_>

Alright. Was just curious, if I ever get a chance to(if we ever change hosts >.<) I'll continue with my plans. Thanks again for getting it functioning now.

But anyway, thanks a ton.

The road is a bit destroyed at one point. Not sure if that's intentional.

I live 3k away from NC and 5k Away from HF. I can get to both of them in under 5 minutes. Isn't Nether-travel fun?

I know! I can get to NC from HF in about 2 minutes, instead of walking for 10. I would suggest an ITC branch for the Nether, but ashblossom seems to putting something together already.

ITC is pretty much nonexistent at this point, and Nether travel may be fast but it also poses complications. Any portal near town immediately renders all portals nearby essentially useless.

Not to mention the Nether is going to be reset for Nether Quartz- and probably reset at other times as well.

By some sort of building? Looks like an explosion? It wasn't intentional but it was left after a bit of RP that happened there a long while ago. I fixed it up again.

I did put together a nether portal tunnel system connecting Frostweave, Hearthfire, New Cerberus, some NPC villages, and my house some time ago without interfering with the portals as they work now. Didn't know about the reset, but oh well.

I can easily dismantle or move the portals if they DO interfere, but I'm 99.9% certain they won't. I tested it anyways. So, yeah.

The tunnel entrances are hidden, but just about anyone can use them if they want. They're right next to the main portals to the major cities. That's how it works without messing anything up. It's pretty much walking to the portals via shortcut, with a few other connections.

CONSTRUCTION PROJECT: Sunrise Rail

It's safe to say there's been a healthy need for a rail to be established on the road between Hearthfire and New Cerberus, which I've grown accustomed to calling Sunrise Road.

I've currently begun the construction project for this railway, and first the rails themselves need to be made or gathered. Thanks to some number crunching that Blaze did for my sake, the required amount of rails should exceed 1,400.

If you'd like to contribute to the fund, a chest has been set up in front of the giant blue present in front of the New Cerberus town Hall. Faelar has already salvaged some rails from an old Afflicted base to use for the good of society. (Thanks, Tengard!) Any contributions to Sunrise Rail will benefit the community as a whole and be very appreciated.

And it's done!

It's not a PRETTY rail, but the Sunrise rail is done and it works. It stretches a short walk from Hearthfire to Firebringer crossing.
